Shri Raosaheb Danve

During the general elections that were held in May 2014, Shri. Raosaheb Danve-Patil won the Jalna constituency for the fourth time. Immediately afterwards, he was sworn in by the Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi as the Minister of State for Consumer affairs, Food and public distribution. Meanwhile, Maharashtra assembly elections were held in October 2014.

Under the capable leadership of Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, "Mahayuti" stormed to power, and Devendra Fadnavis assumed the reigns as the first BJP chief minister of Maharashtra. However, as per the BJP culture, one person only holds one post a time, and hence Devendra Fadnavis resigned as the President of Maharashtra BJP, and the search for a new leader commenced. Raosaheb Danve, eager to explore new challenges, indicated to the party leadership that he was willing to resign as a minister, and in January 2015 he was appointed as the President of Maharashtra BJP by Amit Shah, the national president of BJP. Raosaheb Danve is only the second person in Maharashtra BJP to hold this prestigious office while also being a Member of Parliament. Earlier, late Suryabhan Vahadane-Patil had successfully carried the dual responsibility.

In the last 30 years, from a Sarpanch to a MP and later a Minister of State, Raosaheb has done justice to various positions. Earlier, he has been a general secretary of Maharashtra BJP, and twice the vice president. Soft spoken and a man of popular connect; Shri Danve has been renowned as a leader with rural roots. He started his journey as a Sarpanch, and later became a MLA (twice) and MP (4 times). He was born on March 18, 1955 in Javkheda, a village in Jalna district of under developed Marathwada region. Despite being a graduate, he found his passion in agriculture. In his quest for development, he contested Gram Panchayat elections, and became the sarpanch. He then twice became MLA from Bhokardan assembly constituency, Jalna. He also contributed heavily to the cooperative movement and the education sector.

Rameshwar Cooperative Sugar Mill, Bhokardan, numerous schools, colleges and institutions remain a testimony to that. He also worked as the president of District Central Cooperative Bank Jalna, District Milk Producers' Association, Ginning and Pressing Association, and Jalna APMC. With his organisational acumen, he went on to represent Jalna constituency in Parliament for 4 consecutive terms. He won the May 2014 election with a significant margin, and became a minister of State. Under his leadership, BJP won 3 assembly seats in Jalna district in 2014 assembly elections. In the parliament, he has performed splendidly as the chairman of Panchayat Raj Committee and member of the Standing Committees for Agriculture as well as for Chemicals and fertilizers and a few others. He was also on the board of Advisory Committee of Rural development ministry. He has won around 22 elections out of 23. His son, Santosh Raosaheb Danve is also a Member of Legislative Assembly.
